Mike LaFuze

   Mr. Michael E. “Mike” LaFuze, 74, of Richmond, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 9.

   Born on December 31, 1948 in Winchester, Indiana, Mike was a 1967 graduate of Richmond High School. He served four years in the US Air Force before his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant. Mike was a 1975 graduate of Indiana University.

   Mike was a CPA and was retired from Stant Manufacturing, where he had served as Finance Director. He was a member of LifeSpring Church. Mike was a car guy and enjoyed owning and driving his 1964 Chevelle convertible and 1965 Mustang.

   Mike will be missed by his wife of nearly 49 years, the former Debra Helms, whom he married on June 28, 1974; son & daughter-in-law, Erik & Amy LaFuze; granddaughter, Kelsey LaFuze; sisters, Valeria LaFuze and Cheryl Heacox & her husband, Marvin; brother, James Austin & his wife, Vickie; aunt, Roberta Snyder; several nieces & nephews; special friends, Melanie Mullins and Gary & Sheri Lay.

   Mike was preceded in death by his mother & father, Rachel & J. Max Austin; and special friend, Bob Mullins.

   Visitation for Mike will be from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A funeral ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment with military rites in Spartanburg Cemetery.
