Milford Horner

Milford Leon Horner, 87, formerly of Fountain City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday September 9, 2025.

He was born near Williamsburg, Indiana on March 29, 1938, to Harry LeRoy and Edna May Beard Horner. He was a 1956 graduate of Whitewater High School.

Milford married the former Phyllis Joan Frakes on August 26, 1956. They were blessed with four children. Milford farmed much of his life, worked at Belden Wire and worked 30 years as a NCR Field Engineer.

Milford was a faithful member of the Williamsburg Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years and joined the Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene after moving to Avon, Indiana in 2013. While at Williamsburg, he served as Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. He was instrumental in the dismantling, relocation and reconstruction of a building that is now the Williamsburg Nazarene Fellowship Center. He was a humble recipient of both the Williamsburg Nazarene Church Distinguished Service Award and the Indianapolis Nazarene District Eagle Award.

Milford will be missed by his wife of 69 years, Phyllis, son Verlin (Tenley) Horner, son Marlin (Robbi) Horner, daughter Jeanine (Tom) Kaufman, son Brian (Amie) Horner, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 deceased grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Milford was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers, LeRoy Horner and Filbert Horner.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12 pm until 2 pm on Saturday, September 13, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City, Indiana. At 2 pm, a service will begin at the funeral home. The service will be officiated by Pastor Doug Shilts and Pastor Steve Bohall. Interment will follow the service in Willow Grove Cemetery.
