Neil D. Thurston

  Neil D. Thurston, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 1 at Reid Hospital.
  He was born June 21, 1960 in Wayne County, Indiana to Carlton and LaWanda DesVoingnes Thurston, both of whom preceded him in death. Neal was a graduate of Northeastern High School and was formerly employed by Cox’s Supermarkets in Richmond. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. He was a very good marksman and in his younger years enjoyed hunting and spending time on the farm
   Neil will be missed by his sisters, Jan Jordan and her husband, Paul, and Nancy Haines, all of Richmond; brother, Dennis Thurston and his wife, Sheryl, of Lynn; nieces, Abigail Haines and Cindy Killion; nephew, Jason Thurston; great nieces and great nephews.
   A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
   Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, at the funeral home.
   Memorial contributions may be sent to Centerstone, 809 Dillon Drive, Richmond, IN 47374 or Hopewell United Methodist Church, 11621 Hough Road, Fountain City, IN 47341.

I visited with Neil Sat. night, he was hurting some but was in good spirit. I asked about the operation, he calmly said "I'll be alright, gotta have faith."  It's the faith in our Lord Jesus that we learned as children through our parents and Hopewell Church

I used to work with Neil and knew he and his mother well.  They were wonderful people.  Neil will be sorely missed.  The family is in my prayers.

We are sorry to hear about Neil passing. We used to see Neil walking all over town. He was our friend. He love to just talk about his past and growing up on the farm.

We are so sorry to hear of Neil's passing and will you will be in our prayers.  We are sorry we will not be able to attend the calling or funeral.  We are out of the state attending a lady from our church that has passed away and funeral is at the same time.

My deepest sympathy for the family I went to school with Neil from 1st to 12th grade, he was a great friend and we all spent alot of time together and they were all good times he will be missed by all of us! May God Rest his soul!
