Neil D. Thurston

June 21, 1960 — August 1, 2011

Neil D. Thurston, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 1 at Reid Hospital.

He was born June 21, 1960 in Wayne County, Indiana to Carlton and LaWanda DesVoingnes Thurston, both of whom preceded him in death. Neal was a graduate of Northeastern High School and was formerly employed by Cox’s Supermarkets in Richmond. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. He was a very good marksman and in his younger years enjoyed hunting and spending time on the farm

Neil will be missed by his sisters, Jan Jordan and her husband, Paul, and Nancy Haines, all of Richmond; brother, Dennis Thurston and his wife, Sheryl, of Lynn; nieces, Abigail Haines and Cindy Killion; nephew, Jason Thurston; great nieces and great nephews.

A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, at the funeral home.
