Paul D. Sturgis

Paul D. Sturgis, 84, of Winchester, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Monday evening, March 24.

Paul was born in Richmond, Indiana on September 5, 1940 to Willard J. & Nellie A. Personette Sturgis. Paul attended Richmond High School. He joined the workforce at an early starting out at the former Paulee Restaurant in Richmond. Paul later accepted a job at Johns-Manville, where he enjoyed a career working in the shipping department.

Paul was a master woodcrafter, using his hands to build everything from high quality furniture to entire homes. He also like to spend time fishing, hunting and water skiing.

Paul will be missed by his wife of almost 34 years, the former Patricia Burdette Crowe; his children, Karl Feaster Sturgis & wife, Pat, Jada Sturgis Noe & husband, Dan, Dawnette Sturgis Kanekawa & husband, Kogi; step-sons, Jay Crowe and Mitchell Crowe; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Sturgis; sister-in-law, Vicki Burdette Ratcliffe & husband, Rex; and nieces & nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Viola Ashe, Faye Soper, Ruby McGee and Frances Soper; and brother, Edward Sturgis.

Paul requested a private burial in Willow Grove Cemetery.
