   Philip A. “Phil” Van Tyle, 74, of Fountain City, passed away at home on Sunday, October 12. Phil was born on April 28, 1951, in Randolph County, Indiana, the son of Omer Virgil & Gertrude Faye Bales Van Tyle. He was a 1969 graduate of Randolph Southern High School.

   Phil enjoyed a 44-year career working in maintenance at Belden, retiring in 2013. He loved riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, having built and owned several over the years.

   Phil will be missed by his wife of 41 years, Sylvia J. Fourman Van Tyle; his special nephew, Jordan Fourman; stepdaughter, Marti Mills; sister, Marcia Kay Favorite; nieces, Evette Ann (Ronald) Isaacs, Shelly K. Dingess and Timothy Scott (Nancy) Favorite; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

   Phil was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, James Rodney Favorite; nephew, James Perry “Crash” Favorite; aunts, Estella May Bell, Mary E. Striewe and Helen V. Bond; uncles, Arnold Edward Bales, George Basil Bales and Fred James Bales.

   Visitation for Phil will be from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm on Friday, October 17, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 South US 27, Fountain City.

   Services will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged for Shriners Children’s Hospital at shrinerschildrens.org or by mail at Shriners Hospital for Children, PO Box 1525, Ransom, WV 25438.
