Rev. Thomas E. Ward, 79, of Lynn, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 22.
   He was born on December 11, 1935 in Wayne County, Indiana to Delbert and Opal Hunt Ward.
   Tom loved his country and his Lord. He served in the Indiana National Guard 2½ years, the United States Marine Corps for 22 years, including 2 tours in Vietnam, and the Indiana Guard Reserve for 10 years before his military retirement. He served congregations wherever there was a need and had most recently served at Hopewell United Methodist Church. Tom devoted much of his time and talent to missionary work in South Dakota and Haiti, where he helped to build schools and churches.
   Tom will be missed by his children, Tina Ward Culbreth and her husband, Buddy; Tony Ward, Tracy Ward and Teresa Ward; step-son, Joseph White; several grandchildren; sister, Joy Pursley and several nieces and nephews.
   Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Dorothy, in 2003; his third wife, Charline, in 2008; son, Thomas E. “Tommy” Ward in 2015 and brothers Lawson Ward and Charles Ward.
   A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 28, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment with military rites will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
   Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-6:30 pm on Friday, November 27, at the funeral home.
   Memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
