Richard A. Pegg was born February 22, 1939 in Winchester, Indiana to Harvey Charles & Sarah Juanita Moore Pegg, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a 1957 graduate of Union High School.
Dick farmed all of his life. He formerly served as President of the Randolph County Soil & Water Conservation District and was an active supporter of Young Farmers and 4-H. He was formerly a member of the Lynn Lions Club and had served as Washington Township Trustee. He loved hunting and made many annual October trips to Canada to hunt grouse. He was an avid golfer and photography enthusiast. He also liked to put together picture puzzles.
Dick will be missed by his wife of 47 years, the former Barbara Holecheck; children, Bonnie Pegg, Tara Pegg and Todd Sadler; grandchildren, Nicole Hoover, Bryce Shaw, Nathan Shaw, Riley Pegg and Chaley Sadler (Cash) vandePlas and their children, Cabel and Caiya; several great-grandchildren; niece, Rita Sue Kratky; great-niece, Katie Sue Ratzburg and great-great-niece, Claira Sue Ratzburg.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kristin Leigh-Anne Kendall, sons, Ryan Pegg, Rocky Pegg and Tim Sadler; grandson, Conner Allen Pegg and 1 sister, Rebecca Sue “Becky” Medler.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South in Fountain City.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Jacob Gibson at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, at the Buena Vista Community Church, 5434 West County Road 300 South in Randolph County. Interment will follow in Buena Vista Cemetery.
