Rick L. Holmes

August 22, 1949 — December 24, 2010

Master Sergeant Rick L. Holmes, US Army (Ret.), 61, passed away Friday, December 24, at his home on Anna Marie Island, Holmes Beach, Florida.

He was born August 22, 1949 in Richmond, Indiana to Ralph and Naomi Holmes. He was a 1967 graduate of Richmond High School and enlisted in the US Army in 1969. He retired on February 3, 1992 as a Master Sergeant.

Rick was a past member of the Richmond Elks Country Club and the Moose Lodge and American Legion of Anna Marie Island.

Rick will be missed by his parents, Ralph & Naomi Holmes; children, Melissa Burwick, David M. Holmes, Rick L. Holmes, Thomas Holmes, Philip Holmes, Angela Maxwell, and Edward and Jennifer Thorn; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Vicki Ann Holmes and Rebecca Vosmeier; brother, Michael Holmes; his special island friends, Pam Reynolds and Marshall Carlton; niece, Elyse Vosmeier; nephews, Brian Holmes, Adam Holmes and Ryan Vosmeier; special great-niece, Kiersta Sechrist.

Rick was preceded in death by his special dog companion, Sasha.

A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30 at the Earlham Mausoleum Chapel, 1100 National Road West, Richmond. Interment will follow in Earlham Cemetery, with military rites delivered by a United States Army Honor Detachment and the Wayne County Honor Guard.

Family & friends may gather for visitation from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, December 30 at the Earlham Mausoleum Chapel.
