Robert Eugene “Bob” Hill

Robert Eugene “Bob” Hill, 77, passed away from Alzheimer’s on May 9, 2026.

He was born December 21, 1948, in San Angelo, Texas, to BJ and Doris Hill, the oldest of four siblings.

Bob graduated from Walt Whitman High School and went on to study at Baylor University and Arizona State University.

In the summer of 1972, while working at 40 West Volkswagen, Mazda, Subaru in Maryland, he met his life partner, Marlene Dukehart. On May 4, 1974, they began a marriage that lasted fifty-two years. Bob remained a dedicated employee at that same location for over four decades until his retirement in 2015 as a master Subaru technician.

In May 1983, Bob and Marlene were blessed with their daughter, Cortney. Though unfamiliar with farm life, Bob embraced it wholeheartedly, becoming a steady and enthusiastic supporter of Cortney’s many livestock projects. He was particularly known for his gentle nature and his uncanny ability to befriend the numerous stray cats who seemed to gravitate toward him, earning him the title of “cat whisperer”.

Bob was an exceptional husband and father who consistently put his family first. His life was guided by a deep and enduring faith in God.

Following Cortney’s marriage to Tyler Cates and move to Modoc, Indiana, Bob and Marlene relocated there upon his retirement to be near their family. Becoming a grandfather to Piper was one of Bob’s greatest joys.

He was present for every milestone—sports, school events, and livestock shows—always cheering her on with quiet pride.

Bob will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and unwavering love for his family.
