Robert L. Hopkins

Robert L. "Bob" Hopkins, 84, of Richmond, passed away on Saturday, June 27, at Reid Hospital.


Born August 31, 1924 in Webster, Indiana, he was the son of Charles and Hallie Maines Hopkins. He served in the US Navy during World War Two. Mr. Hopkins returned home to attend Miami University, where he graduated in 1951. He married the former Patty Concannon on July 18, 1954.


Mr. Hopkins was retired as owner of Hopkins Home Improvement, which he founded in 1971. He was a member of Harry Ray Post 65, American Legion and a former of the Richmond Elks.


Mr. Hopkins will be missed by his wife, Patty, of Richmond; son, Darrell Hopkins and his companion, Amanda Michaels, of Richmond; 2 grandchildren, Anthony Hopkins, of Tempe, Arizona and Alexandra Hopkins, of Greens Fork; 2 brothers, Russell Hopkins and Walter Hopkins, both of Richmond; sister, Mary Rohe, of Richmond, and several nieces and nephews.


Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Lowell Hopkins and Lloyd Hopkins; and 1 sister, Virginia Snyder.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Elkhorn Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard.


Family and friends may gather for visitation at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30.
