Ronald Martin

d. January 22, 2024

Ronald J. Martin, 61, of Bloomingport, passed away on Monday, January 22.

Ron was born on May 22, 1962, in Winchester, Indiana to Jerry and Diana Sue Frazer Martin, both of whom preceded him in death.

Ron grew up in the Williamsburg area and attended Northeastern High School. He formerly worked at Primex, Champion and Envirotech.

Ron was a determined and hard worker, especially after a life-threatening accident that left him what some would consider disabled. But Ron persevered and was proud of his mobility and independence. He loved being outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter of wild game as well as mushrooms. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid supporter of causes that helped our veterans and loved watching tractor pulls, demolition derbys and attending local fairs.

Ron will be missed by his children, Darrell Martin, Jonathan Martin & his wife, Shaycee, Ronnie Martin and Diana Martin & her companion, Anthony Dashley; grandchildren, Emma, Colton, Haven, Makaleigh, Daxton, Destiny and Freya; step-mother, Joyce Martin; siblings, Mary & Mark Kendall, Marla & Scott Raines, Lisa & Daniel Schwegman, Ken & Mary Martin, Jason Martin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins including a special nephew and sidekick, Matt Jones.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Christine Martin; brother Jerry Lee Martin; paternal grandparents, Albert “Dick” & Paralee Martin; maternal grandparents, Paul “Shorty” & Mary Jane Frazer.

Ron’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.
