Ronald L. "Ronnie" McGuire, Sr.

Mr. Ronald L. "Ronnie" McGuire, Sr., 60, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, at his residence in Hamilton, Ohio.
Born January 17, 1947 in Richmond, Indiana, he was the son of Robert L. and Mabel Petty McGuire. He was a 1965 graduate of Fountain City High School. Ronnie loved all things sports including baseball, basketball and NASCAR. He also refereed and umpired for several years. His last appearance behind home plate was May 12, 2007 as umpire for opening day of the Fountain City Recreation Association's 50th season, where he shared his knowledge of baseball and softball with a new generation of players. He was also honored as the parade's Grand Marshal. Ronnie was an over-the-road truck driver for many years, most recently for Dick Lavy in Greenville, Ohio. He shared a CB ministry with his fellow truckers who knew him as "Gospel Singer". Ronnie enjoyed dancing and recently joined the Morning Star Christian Fellowship.
Ronnie will be missed by his wife, the former Sarah Johnson, of Hamilton, OH, daughter, Ronda Marie Gonzalez and her husband, Gabriel, of Carrollton, TX; son, Ronald L. McGuire, Jr. and his fiancee, Allison, of Duncanville, TX; step-daughters, Darla Spencer and her husband, Dave, of Cincinnati, OH and Anita Mills, of Hamilton, OH; step-son, David Mills, of Cincinnati; 7 grandchildren, sisters, Barbara J. McGuire, of Brandon, FL and Cindy Bennett and her husband, Jim, of Williamsburg; brothers, David McGuire and his wife, Walker, of Bishopville, SC; Bobby McGuire and his wife, Janice, of Fountain City and Rick McGuire and his wife, Sonja, of Abington; 2 uncles, 3 aunts and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Julia Hendrix, a niece, Pat McGuire and a nephew, Sean McGuire.
A funeral ceremony was conducted by Pastor David Anderson and Pastor Ron Howard at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment was in Willow Grove Cemetery.
