Rosemary Thornburg, 73, of New Paris, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 5.
She was born October 5, 1952, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to Wesley S. and Mary E. (Long) Harvey. Rosemary was proud of her West Virginia roots and especially proud to be known as a coal miner’s daughter.
Rosemary devoted her life to serving and caring for others. Over the years, she worked as an EMT, a bank teller, and later as a Medical Assistant before retiring from FSSA. She enjoyed retirement and the quiet pace of country life, spending time with her family, and learning through her own independent online research. She also had a special gift for leading others to the Lord and sharing her faith with those around her.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, David D. Thornburg; her children, John Greene and wife Brammae Rose, Raneica Hayes (Rodney), and Sara Megan and husband Case Crumbaugh; sons-in-law Tommy Roupe and Samuel McDougal; grandchildren Jacob Wilford, Noah (Amber) McDougal, Joshua Wilford, Hannah (Blake) Davis, Zane Greene, Jessica (Jared) Hangen, Asa Greene, Isaac Roupe, Kayanna Greene, and Kaalam Greene; great-grandchildren Coraline Greene, Isabelle McDougal, and Maylee Davis; brother Wesley C. Harvey; sisters Darlene Frame and Judy Faulkner; aunt Betty Ruth Dunn; dear friend Cyndi Cooper; and her faithful canine companion, Ruby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Nicholas McDougal; her brother, Charley; and her cherished childhood neighbors, the Sweeneys. Rosemary will be remembered for her servant’s heart, her deep love for family, her strength, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met.
Rosamary’s life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Quaker Lynn Cemetery in Randolph County.
