Rose Marie Cowen-Hartlage, 78, of Spartanburg, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, March 5.
She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on September 26, 1947, to Robert & Hazel Mae McKee Longfellow. Rose was a 1965 graduate of Richmond High School and Indiana Business College.
Rose was a faithful member of the Spartanburg Christian Church and was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She worked early in life at Cowen’s Grocery & Restaurant. She operated R&M Leather for many years and formerly served as Greens Fork Township Trustee. Most recently, she worked at Merchants Bank in Spartanburg. She found great joy in the many hours she spent volunteering at Randolph Southern Schools.
Rose will be missed by her son, Rob Cowen; granddaughter, Chloe Cowen; grandsons, Austin Cowen and Brandon Cowen; and countless scores of friends.
Rose was preceded in death by her first husband, Sidney Duane Cowen; second husband, Dale Thomas Hartlage; son, Monte Duane Cowen.
Pastor Brian Richmond will lead the celebration of Rose’s life at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 14, at the Spartanburg Christian Church, 6714 East 700 South in Spartanburg.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. - Noon on Saturday, March 14, at the church.
Memorial contributions are encouraged for the Spartanburg Christian Church, Secret Families of Randolph County or the Community Foundation of Randolph County. Cards will be available at the church.
