Roy E. Berry, 86, of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2016.
Born July 2, 1930 in Whitley County, Kentucky to Paul, Sr. and Lillie Reed Berry, Roy had lived in Richmond since 1942. Roy was a US Army veteran. He married the former Abbie J. Sherrill on December 4, 1949. They were blessed with four children. He worked most of his life in construction before starting Berry’s Concrete, where he enjoyed working alongside his sons until retiring in 1993. He became an ordained minister in 1967 and pastored three years in Richmond. He was a member of the North 27 Worship Center.
Roy will be missed by his daughters, Linda (Pastor Robert) Johnson and Paula M. Berry; grandchildren, Pastor Daniel Moses, Christopher Berry and Cherish Metsch; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mavis Smith and Jeanette (Arvil) Hurst; brother, Paul (Kathy) Berry, Jr.; and 49 nieces & nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 56 years, Abbie J. Berry; sons, Rick E. Berry and Ronald L. Berry; great-granddaughter, Charity Rachelle Moses; and brothers, Raymond Berry, Virgil Berry, Arvie Berry, John Berry and Kenny Berry.
Pastor Robert E. Johnson and Pastor Daniel E. Moses will conduct a funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26 at the North 27 Worship Center, 5172 US 27 North, Richmond. Interment will follow in Elkhorn Cemetery.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, at the Worship Center.
