Sam Gray

June 3, 1946 — February 11, 2022

 

   Sam Gray, 75, of Fountain City, joined his Lord and Savior on Friday evening, February 11.

   He was born John Samuel Gray on June 3, 1946 in Richmond, Indiana to Leo S. & Lois Eva Skinner Gray. John graduated from Whitewater-Fountain City High School in 1964. John served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He returned home and attended Marion College, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Education. Sam pastored in churches for several years.

   Sam is survived by his children, Catherine Louise Gray and Stephen Ray Gray; two granddaughters and two grandsons; special friends and caregivers, Tom & Sandy Clements, whose home he lived in, and Sharon Hitch.

   Sam was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jim Gray, Daryl Gray and Linden Gray.

   Visitation for Sam will be from 12-1 pm on Friday, February 18, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. A homegoing ceremony will immediately follow. Interment will be in Willow Grove Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard.

   Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Fountain City Recreation Association, PO Box 326, Fountain City, IN 47341.
