Sandra Kay "Sandy" Buchanan, 59, passed away at her home on Monday, August 20.
   Sandy was born July 29, 1953 in Wayne County to Clifford H. & M. Vivian Roberts. She attended Northeastern High School. She married Christopher Buchanan on May 29, 1970, forming a union which was blessed with 1 daughter.
   Sandy worked a few years at the former PRC in Richmond. She enjoyed being a homemaker and being outdoors and watching her grandchildren’s activities. She painted and was known for creating artistic and spiritual tributes, which she freely gave to others when the need occurred. Sandy was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Richmond.
   Sandy will be missed by her husband, Christopher Buchanan; mother, Vivian Roberts, of Richmond; daughter, Stacy Helton, of Williamsburg; granddaughter, Chaise Helton and grandson, Evan Helton; 2 sisters & brothers-in-law, Donna & Tom Perry, Sr., of Fountain City; Julie and Beau Townsend, of Richmond; brother & sister-in-law, Ronnie & Terry Roberts, of Richmond; and several nieces & nephews.
   Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Clifford H. Roberts, in 1985.
   Pastor John Maples will conduct a funeral ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
   Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, at the funeral home.
