Sarah E. Roberts Hartleib

d. December 4, 2025

Sarah Elizabeth Roberts Hartleib, 47, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, December 4.

Sarah was born in Frankfurt, Germany on July 12, 1978, to Ronald Mac & Sharon Fay Mullins Roberts. She was a 1996 graduate of Randolph Southern High School, and a 2000 graduate of Johnson Bible College. She served a year as a missionary in Ireland after college.

Sarah was a faithful member of Spartanburg Christian Church, where she also worked as an administrative assistant. She formerly worked as a Child Advocate at Wernle Children’s Home in Richmond. Her children and family were her greatest gifts in life, and she loved spending time with them. She was an excellent cook who was always willing to create dishes from new recipes. Among her family’s favorites was her breakfast casserole, mashed potatoes, ribs, and Mexican and Chinese dishes. Sarah was an avid reader of her Bible and other books. She was an avid hiker when her health permitted and left her footprints in many places including Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains. She was also a fan of the Indianapolis Colts.

Sarah will be missed by her husband of 15 years, Anthony Hartleib, who she married on November 27, 2010; sons, Dean Hartleib and Joel Hartleib; parents, Ron & Sharon Roberts; sisters, Jennifer Payne & husband, Chris, Michelle Richards & husband, Adam; brother, Ronald Roberts II; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sarah was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John A. Mullins Jr. and Neva Lewis Mullins; and paternal grandfather, Mac Roberts.

Pastor Brian Richmond and Sarah’s uncle, Pastor David Mullins, will celebrate Sarah’s life at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, at the Spartanburg Christian Church, 6714 East 700 South in Spartanburg.

Family and friends may gather from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, at the church.
