Thelma Louise Thompson, 87, formerly of Bethel, passed away on Saturday, December 14 at Reid Hospital.
She was born on March 18, 1926 in Wayne County, Indiana to Arthur and Mabel Fern Cory Pope. She was a 1944 graduate of Whitewater High School, where she was class valedictorian. She shared a 53-year marriage to Lawrence “Ted†Thompson until his death on September 2, 1996.
Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker. She also was formerly employed at AVCO and later at the Richmond State Hospital. She was a member of the Bethel Christian Church.
Mrs. Thompson will be missed by her daughters, Marsha Hayden and Joyce Brittenham; son, Philip Thompson; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Lloyd Pope; and sister, Mary Kirkman.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, at the funeral home.
