Troy W. Allen, 79, formerly of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, September 14, 2025, in the comfort of his home and in the presence of his family.
Troy was born in Richmond, Indiana on June 28, 1946, to George W. and Lena Miller Allen. Troy was a 1965 graduate of Randolph Southern High School. He served in the US Army in Germany from 1966-68, where he was a tank commander.
Troy enjoyed a long career with Belden, including a 20-year stint as a machine operator followed by 20 years as a computer programmer. He later worked part-time as an Administrative Assistant for his son-in-law’s company, First Rate Industries. He also was a self-employed Quality Consultant for multiple companies.
Troy was active in the HAM radio community, where his call sign was WD9EDL. He was co-founder of the Randolph County Radio Club, serving as Treasurer for many years. He was an active family man who enjoyed supporting his children’s activities. After they were grown, He joined the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge in 1994. He had worshipped at Bloomingport Friends Church and later at Congregational Christian Church. He enjoyed wood carving and whittling.
Troy will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Brenda Lou Bates Allen; children, Monica & Randall Roberts, Denise & Jason Baker, Travis Allen and Adam Allen; grandchildren, Evan Roberts, Amber (Chris) Murray, Celeste Allen, Emmarae Roberts, Kearstin Allen, Austin Allen, Kyle Allen, Haley Allen, Charles Baker and Ella Baker; step-grandson, Leon Murray; sister, Vickie Gross, sister-in-law, Sherrie Allen; brother & sister-in-law, Glenn & Linda Allen; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eric Kevin Allen, and brother-in-law, Tony Gross.
A service to celebrate Troy’s life will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, September 17, at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Quaker Lynn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from Noon-3:00 pm on Wednesday, September 17, at the funeral home.
