Waneta Johnson

Waneta Johnson, 85, of Richmond, passed away on Friday, July 30, at Reid Hospital in Richmond.


She was born December 22, 1924 in Paxton, Indiana to John and Alta Sims Smith. She was a 1942 graduate of Williamsburg High School and was a member of Williamsburg Friends Meeting. She retired from INA in 1986.


Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters, Sandra Weber, of Monticello, Kentucky; Cheryl Haynes and her husband, Bill, of Richmond; Karen Wright and her husband, Bob, of Williamsburg; Jane Stephens, of Indianapolis; Beth Underwood and her husband, Rick, of Forsyth, Illinois; 2 sons, Stanley Johnson, of Oviedo, Florida; Stephen Johnson and his wife, Kari Kalve, of Richmond; 20 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, sister, Helen McClure, of Eaton, Ohio; brothers, Leon Smith, of Connersville and Dean Smith, of Cumming, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.


Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents and 5 brothers, Meredith Smith, Dale Smith, Loren Smith, Gerald Smith and Emerson Smith.


A funeral ceremony will be conducted by Pastor Phil Baisley at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4 at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memory Gardens.


Family and friends may gather for visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, at the funeral home.
